Position Responsibilities


  • Perform and issue road and backing test to New Hire Drivers, Upgrade Apprentices, Short Term Trainees and Drivers in need of a Safety Evaluation.
  • Become familiar with and adhere to C.R. England standards and remain consistent with other C.R. England Schools and orientation facilities.
  • Retrain drivers or students through supplemental range and truck instruction.
  • Assist the School Truck Instructors when required and as needed.
  • Create positive outcomes by using effective communication skills.
  • Be aware of, and sensitive to, the needs of diverse groups of people and address individual differences in a non-offensive manner.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude towards drivers.
  • Demonstrate a willingness and desire to continue learning and improving job skills.
  • Accept and respond to constructive criticism.
  • Be versed in C.R. England safety standards and demonstrate a “Safety 1st” attitude.
  • Maintain and inspect assigned equipment through daily inspections and regular communications with the Permit Department and Repair Shop.
  • Ensure the driver is fairly evaluated and make recommendations to the supervisor in the event a driver is not meeting the minimum standards of the C.R. England requirements.
  • Be willing and capable of becoming qualified as a Third Party Examiner as required by State, and be able to carry out all the duties and responsibilities in regards to that position.
  • Accept and put into practice the concept of the “one voice” approach to school, safety, training instruction, and evaluation.

  • Meet or exceed all C.R. England minimum Qualifications for OTR Drivers
  • Not under a current Lease contract obligation
  • Have minimum of 1-year driving experience (OTR preferred)
  • Pass a C.R. England pre-employment road and backing evaluation issued by the Lead Instructor
  • Pass a C.R. England issued drug screen and medical physical
  • Meet the specific state CDL driver educator criteria where required (which may exceed the above standards)
  • Make decisions and use independent judgment
  • Possess good communication skills in English
  • Ability to make use of conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Possess a proactive work ethic
  • Effective team player
  • Possess the physical capability and willingness to walk back and forth from facility to the range as necessary to perform the job function
  • Possess the patience and ability to perform the evaluation and provide feedback in a calm and reasonable manner
