Responsibilities

Job requirements may include, but not be limited to:

 

  • Ensures maintenance and repairs for Intermodal assets are performed regularly at a reasonable cost
    • Maintain accountability with corporate equipment team for cost control
  • Supervises a team of temperature trackers responsible for monitoring and addressing equipment discrepancies, alarms and alerts
  • Provides back-up plan to ensure that all team functions are performed when primary point person is unavailable
  • Build loading diagrams as requested by Customer Service and individual customers
  • Coordinate product rework, transloads, destination overweights, special container maintenance and disposition of claimed product
    • Maintain a network of resources for such functions
    • Pay cross-dock and re-work fees
  • Coordinate the notification and follow through of container damage, including railroad damage subrogation
  • Submit, track and follow through with Chassis repair bill-back to railroad
  • Maintain involvement with Road Service to ensure the timely completion of repairs of containers and chassis
  • Order and stock e-channel straps, cable ties  and other shop supplies for drivers
  • Evaluate and recommend systems, processes, products and technologies improvements to increase value to customers and efficiency for C.R. England
  • Recruit, hire, train, manage, and retain a team to perform all necessary functions of the Intermodal Maintenance team
    • Determine employee evaluation standards
    • Provide coaching, developmental and performance feedback
  • Coordinate research and communication associated with freight claims
  • Monitor and maintain fleet telematics health and facilitate cost effective repair options
  • Schedule, track and report on equipment and tractor PM’s
  • Schedule, track and report on Reefer re-hang’s
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Job qualifications may include, but not be limited to:

 

  • 5 years or more experience in transportation and logistics, preferably in temperature controlled
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and TMS software
  • Broad understanding of  transportation processes and standards and maintenance protocol for transportation equipment
  • Ambitious, visionary leader who can redefine processes, technologies and workflows
  • Experience with leading others
  • Must have the ability to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes and/or delays
  • Must be able to remain focused and work effectively and efficiently in a demanding environment
  • Some travel may be required to meet with shippers and vendors
