  • Overview

    C.R. England’s Diesel Technician Scholarship Program is open to first and second year students enrolled in a post high school diesel technician programs. This program helps top students to gain practical/real world experience, in a cutting edge facility, while providing financial assistance for diesel mechanic school

    Responsibilities

    Program Breakdown

     

    Year One

    • Recipient is eligible to receive a total of $2000.00 in tuition allowance, payable in disbursements of $1,000.00 per semester, paid at the end of the semester following a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
    • Recipient is eligible to receive $500.00 tool allowance paid prior to the beginning of the first semester to assist with tool requirements
    • Recipient is of scholarship are expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week with C.R. England during time in school and are eligible to work full time during school break periods. Students may work more than the minimum hours if their grades are satisfactory
    • Target minimum wage for first year student scholarship employees will be $14.00 hourly depending on skills and qualifications

    Year Two

    • Recipient is eligible to receive $2,000.00 tuition allowance per semester, paid at the beginning of the semester with a GPA of 3.0 or better
    • Recipient is eligible to receive $1000.00 tool allowance paid prior to the beginning of the first semester to assist with tool requirements
    • Recipient is of scholarship are expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week with C.R. England during his or her time in school, and are eligible to work full time during school break periods. Students may work more than the minimum hours if their grades are satisfactory
    • Target minimum wage for first year student scholarship employees will be $16.00 hourly depending on skills and qualifications

     

    Please note C.R. England values education and considers school related assignments and grades to be the highest priorities. Thus, work schedules and hours will be adjusted as necessary to accommodate school priorities.

     

    Terms and Conditions

     

    1. Following of the scholarship and subsequent employment at C.R. England, if the employee voluntarily terminates his or her employment prior to six months from the employees post-graduation start date, the employee will repay $4,000.00 tuition allotment and the $1,000.00 tool allotment, representing the full tuition and tool allotment of year 2, in full to C.R. England. 
    2. If the employee voluntarily terminates his or her employment between six and 12 months from the employees post-graduation start date, the employee will repay $2,000.00 of tuition allotment, representing 50% of the tuition allotment of year 2, in full to C.R. England. 
    3. Target minimum wage for post-graduation employment will be $18.00 hourly. Actual pay may be higher or lower depending on market conditions, employee performance and at the sole discretion of CR. England. (Initials box)
    4. Any scholarship offered may be revoked at the sole discretion of C.R. England for the following reasons:
      • Insufficient academic progress. This is defined as not completing courses required to graduate timely with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. 
      • Failure to work the minimum required number of hours at C.R. England facility. 
      • Failure to meet C.R. England employee performance policies. 
      • Failure to follow instructions and/or safety policies. 
      • Failure to consistently produce high quality and timely work.

     

    Please note: As a part of this program C.R. England provides real world experience and may provide supplemental training to the student-employee specific to C.R. England equipment and shop practices.

     

    Qualifications

    Basic Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Enrollment in diesel technician program.
    • Satisfactory progress with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better.

    Additional Requirements

    • 500 - 700 word statement good candidate for the C.R. England Diesel Mechanic Scholarship
