Responsibilities

The Program

 

The C.R. England Diesel Mechanic Scholarship Program is open to first and second year students enrolled in UTI Rancho Cucamonga's diesel mechanic certificate program. This program helps top students gain practical experience while providing financial assistance for diesel mechanic school.

 

The Internship

  • Qualified interns will receive a $1,000.00 tool incentive at the beginning of the internship.
  • Internship students are expected to work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week with C.R. England during semesters and are eligible to work full time during school break periods. Students may work more than the minimum hours if their grades are satisfactory.
  • School work and grades are the highest priorities. Work schedules and hours will be adjusted to accommodate school priorities.
  • Target minimum wage for first year student internship employees will be $14.00 - $15.00 hourly depending on skills and qualifications.

 

Post-Graduation Employment and Tuition Reimbursement

  • If selected for full-time employment following graduation, the new employee will be offered a signing bonus upon hire consisting of $4,000.00 tuition reimbursement and a $1,000.00 tool bonus.
  • Upon successful completion of the first year of employment, the employee will be offered a second-year retention bonus of $4,000.00 tuition reimbursement and another $1,000.00 tool bonus.
  • Prior to beginning full-time employment with the Company, the new employee will be required to sign a tuition reimbursement agreement with the following terms: 
    • after accepting employment, if the employee leaves the company before six months, the employee will repay the $4,000.00 tuition reimbursement bonus and the $1,000.00 tool bonus in full to C.R. England;
    • if the employee leaves the company between six and 12 months, the employee will repay $2,000.00 of tuition to C.R. England;
    • if the employee leaves the company after 12 months but before receiving the second year retention bonus, no repayment necessary;
    • after receiving the second year retention bonus, if the employee leaves the company before 18 months (i.e. six months or less into the second year of employment), the employee will repay the second year $4,000.00 tuition reimbursement bonus and the $1,000.00 tool bonus in full to C.R. England;
    • if the employee leaves the company between 18 and 24 months, the employee will repay $2,000.00 of tuition to C.R. England;
    • if the employee leaves the company after 24 months, no repayment necessary.
  • Target minimum wage for post-graduation employment will be $18.00 hourly or higher depending on market conditions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Enrollment in UTI Rancho Cucamonga's diesel mechanic program.
  • Satisfactory progress with a minimum average grade of B.
  • Three references.
  • One-page personal statement explaining why you want to enter a career in the diesel mechanic industry, and why you want to work for C.R. England.
